Art is born to cherish dreams and feelings.

What do you know about autistic people’s world?

Surely everyone among us has heard about autistic people. But, what have you seen in their world?

Autistic people live in their own world. The child still develops but develops in his own way, unlike us. When I see autistic children, I feel the loneliness and difficulties they are going through. I find that they often do not want to share with the world around them and have difficulty interacting socially.

I realized that art and creativity can be a powerful means to help autistic children overcome these barriers. Art is not only a form of self-expression, but also a way for autistic children to explore and develop their creativity. It provides them with an alternative method of communication, a way to express feelings and ideas without using words.

That is also the reason why I decided to create a safe and supportive environment for autistic children to develop their artistic skills and creativity. I want to create a club where autistic children can freely express themselves and explore their potential through art.

YI HYOLYNN

Getting barriers in communication and social interaction is one of the typical characteristics of autistic children. They find it hard to share emotions, do not look at the speaker, and do not respond when their name is called. However, autistic children have many specialties, especially in the field of painting.

Autism does not affect a child’s ability to recognize colors. However, due to the nature of autism, they are easily agitated when encountering too dark colors. Instead, children with autism often respond positively to light colors such as green, blue or light purple.

Contrary to what many people think, the artistic abilities of autistic children are very developed, surpassing those of normal people. They hardly have contact with the outside world but they can focus on developing their internal qualities.

And for Ky Nghe’s first activity, we want you to visit a special art class with “little artists” who are autistic children at Binh Minh specialized center in Hanoi. Ky Nghe’s art class will take place every Friday.

“Sometimes, a small step can open up a brilliant future. Let’s start the ‘Dawn’ class together and unlock new doors for children with autism.”

Lesson 1: Crayons

First lesson

In this lesson, we guided autistic children to draw by crayons on the topic of “Dream House”, and hosted some games to help them develop their creativity in terms of art as well as in comprehensive physical development.

Memorable moments

We realize that children with autism also love to draw, although the initial drawings are not really flexible, but we believe that they can develop their drawing ability much more in the next sessions.

Lesson 2: Acrylic color

The second lesson for autistic children is on the topic of acrylic painting. Getting used to a new color material makes children encounter many difficulties. And we also have a hard time teaching them how to mix colors correctly and how to hold the brush to get the most beautiful strokes. Although the work was quite difficult at first, many of the pictures the children surprised us a lot.

lesson 3: collage art

In the third lesson, we taught autistic children a fairly new form of art: Collage art. From magazine images, colored paper, and stickers, children will create their own works of art. With this form of art, children are free to choose and create.

lesson 4:

The last lesson we brought to autistic children at Binh Minh specialized center was on the topic of modeling clay. The children showed special enthusiasm for this subject and created many lovely products such as Doraemon cartoon characters, food and animals. Although we haven’t spent much time with the children, we canrealized that they love art and creativity. We believe that in the future, if children are cared for and provided with good teaching methods, they will develop extremely well.
