San se is an organization founded to give support to those in need.
Vietnam is now listed as a developing country, but in some parts of Vietnam, people’s lives are still poor. People have little chances of schooling, have difficulties in making a living. Some are suffering from diseases and other issues.
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...
Perhaps, the trip to Gia Lai was a trip that marked a change in my worldview. During this trip, I visited the Ede people, an ethnic minority living in the southern region of Vietnam. For the first time, I felt the extreme poverty, the pain both physically and mentally that people have to go through. Then I feel like I have grown a lot.
When we went to the leprosy village in Ia Grai district, Gia Lai province, I saw the so-called “extreme”.
People with leprosy live in villages to support each other. Many of the elderly people in the village have lost both their fingers and feet due to illness. They lose their ability to work and have to rely on support from the community. And their children and grandchildren, who do not know when they will get sick, and gradually lose their hands and feet, like their parents.
We came and distributed some food and snacks to the people in the village. In addition, we also organize some games for the children. Looking at the smiles of the children, I felt a bit choked up. If only they could have a better life.
Next stop - phuoc hat mental hospital
Our next stop is Phuoc Hat Mental Hospital – a place that takes care of more than 40 mentally ill people in Pleiku.
At first, when I arrived at the hospital, I felt a bit scared, because after all, this was my first time interacting with those special person. I’m quite afraid that when they meet, they might lose control and injure other others.
But then, I thought carefully, and found that I needed to let go of my fears. Mentally ill people themselves also need help. If everyone had the same thoughts as me before, t who would be the people they can ask for help.
We came, cooked and distributed 40 meals of pate bread to mentally ill people being cared for at the hospital. Looking at their struggling looks, I realized how lucky I was to have a healthy body, a loving family and better living conditions.
volunteer at ia-hrung commune
Keeping on our journey, we visited Nguyen Van Troi primary school, the school of the Ede ethnic group.
Here, we gave students gifts to encourage their performance at school, including books, pens, rulers, and some candies. English classes are also held here with the hope of helping students in this difficult land have the opportunity to access English.
People around the commune also flocked to the school to receive donating clothes from our “0 VND Stall”. In the arms of many girls and women were babies with dark skin, but with big, round and bright eyes.
We really hoped that, in a few years, the difficult situations in this poor commune would no longer exist, everyone would be fully educated and have a more prosperous life.
